Air-bubble generator is the key part of the self-inspiration type swirl flotation machines,whose flow field structure has a great effect on flotation.The multiphase volume of fluid(VOF),standard k-ε turbulent model a...Air-bubble generator is the key part of the self-inspiration type swirl flotation machines,whose flow field structure has a great effect on flotation.The multiphase volume of fluid(VOF),standard k-ε turbulent model and the SIMPLE method were chosen to simulate the present model;the first order upwind difference scheme was utilized to perform a discrete solution for momentum equation.The distributing law of the velocity,pressure,turbulent kinetic energy of every section along the flow direction of air-bubble generator was analyzed.The results indicate that the bubbles are heavily broken up in the middle cross section of throat sect and the entrance of diffuser sect along the flow direction,and the turbulent kinetic energy of diffuser sect is larger than the entrance of throat sect and mixing chamber.展开更多
The instantaneous variations of the hydraulic characteristics take place in centrifugal pumps during their start-up,shutdown and other variable speed operations.In this paper,the variable speed method was proposed to ...The instantaneous variations of the hydraulic characteristics take place in centrifugal pumps during their start-up,shutdown and other variable speed operations.In this paper,the variable speed method was proposed to simulate the transient internal flow field and the external performance of the pump during starting and stopping periods.The terms of accelerations due to variable speeds in the flow governing equations were analyzed in a multiple reference of frame(MRF).A transient CFD simulation was performed for a typical centrifugal pump by using ANSYS-CFX with the standard k-εturbulence model.The entire simulation process was composed of four stages:start-up,normal run,shutdown and post-shutdown.The function of rotating speed with regard to time was set by CEL language directly into the impeller domain in the pre-processor of the software to conduct variable speed simulation.The variations of the flow field in the centrifugal pump were obtained from the transient simulation.The changing laws of flow rate,head and other performance parameters over time were also analyzed and summarized.展开更多

Furthermore, a visualized s...A two-dimensional axisymmetric model, employing a dynamic mesh and user-defined functions, is used to numerically simulate the transient multiphase flow field produced by an underwater gun. Furthermore, a visualized shooting experiment platform with a high-speed camera is built to observe the evolution process of such a multiphase flow field. The simulated phase distribution diagram is agreed well with the shadow photo of the experiment, indicating that the numerical model is reasonable. Further examinations of the multiphase flow fields by using the submerged and sealed launch methods show that use of the sealed launch can significantly improve the interior ballistic performance of an underwater gun. In the cases by using these two types of underwater launch methods, the displacement of the projectile within the range of the muzzle flow field meets the exponential law over time. Moreover, a not fully developed bottle-shaped shock wave is formed when t = 0.4 ms, but this bottle-shaped shock wave expands more rapidly for the sealed launch. In addition, the amplitude of pressure oscillation for the sealed launch is larger than that of the submerged launch, but the pressure oscillation of the sealed launch lasts shorter.展开更多
