“需”字在现代社会中的含义离不开“需求”、“必需”义,还可以作名词组成“民需”、“军需”等,我们对于它的古文字构形及其意义已经相当疏远。“需”字在许慎《说文解字•雨部》,同其它雨部字相比联系微妙,值得推敲。通过梳理“需”字字形演变及其含义延伸,做到对“需”字的新认知。
The meaning of the character “xu” in modern society is inseparable from the meaning of “demand” and “necessary”. It can also be used as a noun to form “people need” and “military need”, etc. We have been quite distant from its ancient character configuration and its meaning. The character “xu” is in Xu Shen’s “Shuowen Jie Zi∙Yubu” has a subtle connection compared to other Yubu characters, which is worth pondering. Through sorting out the evolution of the character “xu” character and its extension of meaning, we can achieve a new cognition of the character “xu”.
