摘要
2002年7月5日出版的《Science》上发表了"‘小矮人’是走出非洲的先行者吗?"一文,现在的答案是:非也,因为"小矮人"在格鲁吉亚的Dmanisi出现的时候,东亚地区已经有了人类活动,黑土沟早更新世旧石器遗址就是一个例证。黑土沟遗址是泥河湾盆地目前发现的最为古老的旧石器时代遗址,它分布在河北省阳原县官厅村西北侧黑土沟的下更新统泥河湾组,文化层厚1.3m,下伏侏罗系火山角砾岩,上覆68.6m厚的河湖相沉积层和12.6m厚的黄土层。依据磁性地层学资料进行地层对比,遗址所在地层位于Matsuyama反极向期的Olduvai正极向亚时顶界面以下,其年龄在1.77~1.95 Ma范围偏老阶段。黑土沟遗址的发现,为人类最早走出非洲抵达东亚地区提供了新的证据。
The Heitugou site was discovered at Guanting Village,Yangyuan County,Hebei Province in 2002.The geographical coordinates of the site are 40°13′1.91″N(north latitude)and 114°39′29.36″E(east longitude).Many stone artifacts with characteristics of the Upper Pleistocene were collected there in 2006 from the 1.3m thick sequence of an archeological test pit,composed of four natural layers,containing a vol-ume of approximately 7.6 m3 .This site is buried 83.50~84.83 m below the ground surface.It lies in the Nihewan Formation sediment of the Lower Pleistocene context of the“Nihewan beds”directly on top of Ju-rassic volcanic rocks.The sediment is the continuation of the bottom gravel layer of the“Nihewan beds”in the Olduvai subchron of the Matsuyama chron between 1.77-1.95 Ma identified at the section of Xiantai (Dachangliang)site,which is located NE43°251 m away from Heitugou and between the Xiaochangliang site and the Donggou section to be dated.Based on the magnetostratigraphy the age of the Heitugou site is pos-sibly over 1.8 Ma or about 1.9 Ma.The lithostratigraphic correlation and associated mammalian fauna raise the possibility that this is the earliest Paleolithic site known in China and therefore in Eastern Asia as well.Furthermore,artifact categories recovered in association with the Early Pleistocene faunal remains do not fit well with previously recovered artifact categories from other Early Pleistocene Chinese sites.The ev-idence taken as a whole underscores the growing realization that East Asian Paleolithic artifact typologies and inferred ages need to be based on the establishment of intrinsic qualities not associated with early sites in Europe and Africa.
