In China,South Asia, and Southeast Asia, bee stings often occur and have become a serious threat to the lives and health of the vast numbers of civilians.Acute kidney injury(AKI)caused by bee stings is a very common serious complication, and the condition is dangerous and can endanger the life of the patient, with acute tubular necrosis(ATN)being the major renal pathological change. It is currently believed that the main mechanisms of AKI caused by bee stings includes hypotension-induced ischemic renal injury, intravascular hemolysis, rhabdomyolysis, and direct renal toxicity of bee venom components.Blood purification therapy is an effective method to treat AKI caused by bee stings, and the venom-specific immunotherapy is mainly aimed at the allergic population. This paper reviewed the recent advances in the research on prevention and treatment of AKI caused by bee stings.
