古典学中“东方古典学”的建构逻辑及根本宗旨

摘要当今中国学界所提倡的古典学有两种形态:一是承认受西方古典学启发而又自定义的古典学,认为中国古典学就是国学;二是参照西方古典学而提出的开放性的古典学,是超越国学的区域之学,这也是世所公认的严格意义上的古典学,其根本宗旨是通过区域文化的认同而建构区域文化共同体,这应该成为中国古典学建构的基本旨归。中国的古典学除了在古典学的意义上研究国学之外,还应该包括中国的“西方古典学”和“东方古典学”研究。“东方古典学”是东方学与古典学的耦合形态,业已成熟的形态是以中国古典文化研究为中心的“东亚古典学”,在此基础上进一步建构“东方古典学”是完全可行的。“东方古典学”的资源是东方佛典、东方儒典、东方文典三大系统。其中,佛典和儒典是“东方古典学”建构的基础和出发点,而包括文学、史学、哲学、美学、艺术学等分支学科在内的“东方文典”的研究,则是“东方古典学”建构的具体层面。正如西方古典学的根本宗旨是以古希腊、罗马为归依的“西方认同”一样,中国的“东方古典学”也应该是以中国文化为中心的寻根、开放、跨界、跨学科的研究。通过上述的建构逻辑,可以实现“东方古典学”的根本宗旨——促进“东方认同”、建构东方区域文化共同体。 In contemporary Chinese academia,there are two forms of classical studies being advocated.The first acknowledges the inspiration from Western classical studies while self-defining classical studies as equivalent to Chinese national learning(Guoxue).The second proposes an open form of classical studies by referencing Western classical studies,transcending national learning to become a regional discipline.This latter form is widely recognized as classical studies in the strict sense,with its fundamental tenet being the construction of a regional cultural community through cultural identity.This should serve as the goal for the construction of Chinese classical studies.Beyond studying Chinese national learning within the framework of classical studies,Chinese classical studies should also encompass research on"Western Classical Studies"and"Oriental Classical Studies"in China."Oriental Classical Studies"is a coupled form of Oriental studies and classical studies,with its mature manifestation being"East Asian Classical Studies"centered on Chinese classical culture.Building upon this,further constructing"Oriental Classical Studies"is entirely feasible.The resources for"Oriental Classical Studies"consist of three major systems:Oriental Buddhist canons,Oriental Confucian canons,and Oriental literary canons.Among these,Buddhist and Confucian canons form the foundation and starting point for the construction of"Oriental Classical Studies",while research on"Oriental literary canons",which includes branches such as literature,history,philosophy,aesthetics,and art studies,constitutes the concrete level of its construction.Just as the fundamental tenet of Western Classical Studies is"Western identity"rooted in ancient Greece and Rome,China's"Oriental Classical Studies"should also be a research centered on Chinese culture,characterized by its roots,openness,cross-boundary engagement,and interdisciplinarity.Following this construction logic,the fundamental tenet of"Oriental Classical Studies",which is to promote"Oriental identity"and build an Eastern regional cultural community,can be realized.
