Sjögren's syndrome(SS)is an autoimmune disease characterized by dry eyes and dry mouth as primary clinical manifestations. Its pathogenesis is complex, and the clinical efficacy of existing treatments remains insufficient.Aquaporin 5(AQP5),as a protein specifically transporting water molecules across membranes, accelerates water molecule transport and maintains intracellular-extracellular water balance. Its expression level is closely related to the occurrence and progression of SS.Recent studies indicate that Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)can improve SS symptoms by regulating AQP5 expression, demonstrating substantial therapeutic potential. This article systematically reviews the mechanism of AQP5 in SS pathogenesis, summarizes research advances in active ingredients of TCM,Chinese herbal compound formulas, and Chinese patent drugs for treating SS based on AQP5 regulation, and consolidates treatment regimens, aiming to provide new insights for the clinical management of SS.
