摘要
社会学家是社会学史书写的核心线索,“谁”被当作社会学家写入学科史正传,逻辑地决定着“社会学是什么”的学理内涵。既有社会学史书写不仅涉及那些以社会学为职志的专业社会学家,而且还旁及一些与社会学学科没有直接关联,甚至批判否定社会学的“圈外人”。学科史书写者以社会学学科原理为准则,甄选可以作为学科外援的“圈外人”进入社会学史叙述脉络。当这些“圈外人”被写入社会学史正传时,他们就成了被发明的社会学家。发明是一种重要的新知识生产方式,“发明”社会学家则是社会学学科主动汲取外部资源以推进自身知识生产的另类途径。“发明”社会学家既能够从学者阵容、知识构成和学科原理等方面改变社会学的学科样貌,也可能导致学科畛域无序膨胀,导致“社会学是什么”等原理问题更加繁复难解。
Social scientists represent the core clues of sociological history,and who are included as sociologists in the orthodox history logically determines the theoretical connotation of“what is sociology”.Sociological histories include not only those who are professional sociologists,but also those“outsiders”who are not directly associated with sociology or even who are critical of it.The writing of sociological history follows the disciplinary principles of sociology,selectively including“outsiders”into its narrative as disciplinary contributors.When these“outsiders”are thus included,they become“invented”sociologists.Inventing is an important means of new knowledge production,and inventing sociologists is a unique way for sociology to actively absorb external resources to advance its own knowledge production.Inventing sociologists may alter the outlook of sociology in terms of scholar regime,knowledge formation and disciplinary principles,but it may also lead to the disorderly expansion of the disciplinary scope,making the question“what is sociology”even more complicated and intractable.
