摘要
中国企业参与高质量共建“一带一路”的实践,与提升ESG(Environmental, Social and Governance)表现的可持续发展理念紧密契合。基于2009—2022年A股上市公司的面板数据,通过构建双重差分模型,采用准自然实验法研究“一带一路”倡议对企业ESG表现的影响及其机制。研究结果表明:(1)“一带一路”倡议有效提升了企业的ESG表现,这一结论在经过稳健性检验和内生性检验后仍然成立;(2)在国有企业、非重污染企业和重点省(自治区、直辖市)的企业中,“一带一路”倡议的促进作用更为显著;(3)从影响机制来看,“一带一路”倡议通过提高企业绿色技术创新水平,间接提升了企业的ESG表现。研究结论对于企业通过参与共建“一带一路”来践行ESG理念、开展ESG实践、提升ESG水平具有重要意义。
The practice of Chinese enterprises participating in the high-quality cooperation of the“Belt and Road”is closely aligned with the concept of sustainable development to improve the ESG performance.Based on the panel data of A-share listed companies from 2009 to 2022,this paper constructs a difference-in-differences model and uses the quasi natural experimental method to study the impact of the“Belt and Road”initiative on ESG performance of enterprises and its mechanism.The study finds that:(1)The“Belt and Road”initiative has effectively improved the ESG performance of enterprises,and this conclusion is still valid after the robust test and endogenous test;(2)the promoting effect of the“Belt and Road”initiative is more prominent among state-owned enterprises,non-heavy polluting enterprises and enterprises in key provinces(autonomous regions,municipalities);(3)from the perspective of the influence mechanism,the“Belt and Road”initiative indirectly improves the ESG performance of enterprises by improving their level of green technological innovation.The research conclusions are of great significance for enterprises to practice the ESG concept,carry out the ESG practices,and improve the level of ESG by participating in the cooperation of the“Belt and Road”.
