摘要
《中国丛报》(Chinese Repository)作为19世纪最具影响力的英文期刊之一,长期以来是西方世界了解中国的重要渠道。近年来,学术界对该刊物的研究逐渐增多,并呈现出多样化的发展趋势。本文通过对2011年至今相关研究成果的系统梳理与评析,分析了研究方法和研究视角的演变,探讨了《中国丛报》在中西文化传播、国际舆论与政治传播、语言与教育传播等领域的影响。尽管已有研究取得了重要进展,但仍存在研究方法单一、视角局限、对中国形象建构的深入探讨不足等问题。本文指出,未来的研究应更加注重跨学科的视角,深化对《中国丛报》在西方社会中的实际影响,特别是在中国形象建构和读者群体分析方面进行更系统的研究,以期学术界可以进一步丰富对《中国丛报》的理解,并为中西文化交流的历史研究提供新的视角和借鉴。
Chinese Repository,one of the most influential English-language journals of the 19th century,has long served as a vital channel for the Western world to understand China.In recent years,academic research on this publication has increased significantly,displaying a trend towards diversification.This paper systematically reviews and evaluates research findings since 2011,analyzing the evolution of research methods and perspectives,and exploring the impact of Chinese Repository in areas such as Sino-Western cultural exchange,international public opinion,political communication,and language and educational exchange.Despite the progress made,existing studies still face challenges,such as limited methodological diversity,narrow research perspectives,and insufficient exploration of the journal’s role in shaping China’s image.This paper suggests that future research should adopt more interdisciplinary approaches,deepening the understanding of Chinese Repository’s impact in Western society,particularly in the systematic study of its role in shaping China’s image and analyzing its readership.By doing so,it is expected to enrich the understanding of Chinese Repository and offer new perspectives and insights for the historical study of Sino-Western cultural exchange.
