Bronze pointed-bottom he-boxes were a type of bronze ware with distinctive Ba-Shu cultural characteristics that were popular during the early and middle Warring States period on the Chengdu Plain. This paper indicates that both the lid and body of these bronze boxes were modeled after pottery pointed-bottom cups;the body was formed by attaching a cylindrical cavity to the pointed-bottom cup.Bronze pointed-bottom boxes are commonly found in tombs that contain numerous bronze artifacts, suggesting that the tomb owners possessed a certain social status. However, these boxes did not function as indicators of the tomb owner's rank. After the mid-Warring States period, with the prevalence of ring-footed vessels, bronze pointed-bottom boxes and pottery pointed-bottom cups were gradually phased out from the Ba-Shu cultural assemblage.
