Vascular cognitive impairment(VCI)is a disease that seriously endangers human health, and the current clinical treatment mainly focuses on improving cognitive function, relieving cerebral ischemia and controlling mental behavior. In recent years, traditional Chinese medicine has made certain achievements in the basic and research aspects of treating VCI,among which Shichangpu(Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma)is mostly prominent, with the functions of opening the orifices and expelling phlegm, waking up the spirit and benefiting the intellect, and so on.Modern research has proved that Shichangpu(Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma)contains volatile oil components as well as alkaloids, flavonoids, organic acids and other non-volatile components, which have therapeutic effects on central nervous system disorders, can induce apoptosis of VCI and regulate neuron signaling and other activities,so as to achieve the role of treating vascular cognitive impairment.Based on the above points, the effects and mechanisms of Shichangpu(Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma)in the treatment of VCI were reviewed to provide reference for its rational clinical application and scientific and effective development.
