摘要
袁枚在《随园诗话补遗》卷七中言未曾与曾燠谋面,但考之二人的诗文集,两者多有交往,不但相互唱和赠答,且在诗中明确注明袁枚多次到过曾燠扬州的题襟馆,曾燠也曾去随园拜访袁枚,袁枚扶病相见,二人谈论诗学。现存曾燠所刻《邗上题襟集》中存有袁枚佚诗《题宾谷先生西溪渔隐图》一首。根据曾燠与袁枚交游的诗歌可以推定曾燠的生卒年,纠正包世臣《曾抚部别传》的错误。《随园诗话补遗》的刊刻是一个动态的过程,随得随刻,用原版刻录,只补入,却不修改,于嘉庆二年后定稿,成《随园诗话补遗》十卷。《随园诗话补遗》卷七刊刻时,袁枚未曾见到曾燠,故言“素未识面”。因袁枚有求于曾燠,有了一段名士与官员的密切交往,因为诗歌的媒介,带有了风雅的韵味。
Yuan Mei(袁枚)states in Volume 7 of Continuations to Sui Garden Poetic Commentaries(《随园诗话补遗》)that he had never met Zeng Yu(曾燠).However,a closer examination of their poetry collections reveals extensive interaction between the two.They not only exchanged complimentary poems but also explicitly recorded mutual visits—Yuan Mei visited Zeng Yu’s Tijin Villa(题襟馆)in Yangzhou(扬州),and Zeng Yu visited Yuan Mei at Sui Garden.Despite Yuan Mei’s illness,the two engaged in discussions on poetics.Zeng Yu’s Collected Works of Hanshang Tijin Villa(《邗上题襟集》)even includes a now-lost poem by Yuan Mei titled Inscription on Zeng Yu’s Painting of Fisherman-Hermit on the West Stream(《题宾谷先生西溪渔隐图》).By analyzing these exchanges,this study also corrects errors in Zeng Yu’s birth and death dates found in Bao Shichen’s(包世臣)Biography of Minister Zeng(《曾抚部别传》).The publication of Continuations to Sui Garden Poetic Commentaries was an evolving process,with the original editions engraved as new material became available.The work was finalized after the second year of Jiaqing(1797),comprising ten volumes.Yuan Mei’s claim that he had“never met Zeng Yu”in Volume 7 reflects the timeline—at that point,they had not yet met.Their later interactions,driven by Yuan Mei’s request for assistance from Zeng Yu,reflect a rich and literarily significant connection between the scholar and official,mediated through poetry.
