摘要
提升绿色技术创新水平是企业可持续发展的必然选择。具有信息技术背景的CEO能够着眼于未来发展趋势,发掘企业绿色创新潜力。基于此,利用2012—2021年我国A股上市企业的数据,探究CEO信息技术背景对企业绿色技术创新的影响及作用机制。研究发现:CEO信息技术背景能够显著促进企业绿色技术创新,并通过推动数字化转型和提高内部控制质量两种中介机制助推企业绿色技术创新;CEO信息技术背景对企业绿色技术创新的促进作用在国有企业、大规模企业及行业竞争较强的企业中更加显著。结论丰富了CEO信息技术背景的经济后果及企业绿色技术创新影响因素的相关研究,对推进企业绿色技术创新具有重要启示。
Enhancing the level of green technology innovation is an inevitable choice for the sustainable development of enterprises.However,enterprises face greater risks in the process of green technology innovation.As the main decision maker and manager of the enterprise,the CEO's information technology background plays a crucial role in the development of green tech-nology for enterprises.CEOs with IT backgrounds are able to foresee future trends,explore the potential for green innovation,formulate long-term green development strategies,and promote green technological innovation.Based on this,this paper utilizes data from China's A-share listed enterprises from 2012 to 2021 to explore the impact and mechanism of the CEO's informa-tion technology background on enterprises'green technology innovation.It is found that the CEO's IT background significantly contributes to firms'green technological innovation and fuels it through two mediating effects,improving digital transformation and internal control levels.This finding remains robust when considering issues of robustness and endogeneity.The facilitat-ing effect of the CEO's IT background on corporate green technology innovation is more pro-nounced in state-owned enterprises,large-scale enterprises,and enterprises with strong indus-try competition.The conclusion verifies the important role of CEOs with information technology backgrounds in corporate green innovation,enricheing research on the driving forces behind cor-porate green technological innovation,and offering valuable policy recommendations for advanc-ing the green innovation economy.With regard to the government it should continue to strengthen the implementation of the policy on the introduction of information technology talents,and stimulate the subjective initiative of talents with information technology backgrounds to de-vote themselves to the development of China's green innovation endeavours.As for enterprises,they can actively employ talents with IT backgrounds as their management decision-makers,based on their own development levels,to establish an outstanding talent pool and enhance their green innovation capabilities.This study enriches the research related to the economic conse-quences of CEO's information technology background and the influencing factors of enterprises'green technological innovation,and provides important insights for promoting enterprises'green technological innovation.
