The theory of empathy is a very comprehensive theory, and in China and Japan,it is now mainly known for its aesthetic aspect. However, the ethical aspect of empathy has also left its mark on the modern academic history of China and Japan.Based on the theory of empathy,Abe Jiro developed the concept of personalism, which is one of the famous examples. In addition,Japanese scholars such as Tetsuro Kazuji and Susaku Santo have also discussed and developed the relationship between empathy and ethics. In China,Yang Changji,Chen Wangdao,Lv Cheng,Fan Shoukang influenced by Abe Jiro have also highlighted this aspect, and Cai Yuanpei incorporated it into his aesthetic education concept. The connection between literature and art and ethics has attracted attention in contemporary academia, and reviewing the history of academic exchange between China and Japan can also inspire present-day scholars.
