摘要
在中国不登大雅之堂的小说,自17世纪传入欧洲后却登堂入室,入藏各类图书馆,由私人藏书变为公共藏书,使中国小说文本得到妥善保存,传播范围不断扩大。19世纪随着东方学的兴起,中国小说以风俗志形式进入欧洲阅读史,东方学家认为小说比其他著作更具有观风俗的优势。中国小说以译本和中文刻本形式流通欧洲,看似其读者各有所属,实则他们之间相互交叉、影响,都以观风俗为阅读旨趣,并指向中国形象的建构。中国小说也以翻译、改编、戏仿等多种形式逐渐成为欧洲文学的一部分。19世纪欧洲的中国小说阅读史,体现了世界文学以一种渐趋融通的方式呈现和接纳来自世界各地的文学。它促使我们思考如何理解中国文学的“世界性”和包容力,以更好地推动文明互鉴。
Novels that are not considered elegant in China have been introduced to Europe since the 17th century and be-come popular and collected in various libraries.They have transformed from private collections to public collections,and Chinese novel texts have been properly preserved,expanding their scope of dissemination.In the 19th century,with the rise of Oriental-ism,Chinese novels entered the history of European reading in the form of customs chronicle.Orientalists believe that novels have a greater advantage in observing customs than other works.Chinese novels circulate in both translated and original forms,appearing to have corresponding readers,but in fact,these two types of readers intersect and influence each other.They all take observation of customs as their reading interest and aim to construct the image of China.Chinese novels have gradually become a part of European literature through various forms such as translation,adaptation,and parody.The reading history of Chinese nov-els in 19th century Europe reflects the gradual integration and acceptance of literature from all over the world in world literature.It prompts us to think about how to understand the“cosmopolitanism”and inclusiveness of Chinese novels and literature,in order to better promote mutual understanding of civilizations.
