摘要
BAT是Benchmark Advisory Test即“基准建议测试”的缩写,它是以北约STANAG 6001语言能力量表为标准,评估母语不是英语的北约军事人员的英语语言能力的测试系统。北约成员国以BAT测试结果为参考,完善本国依据STANAG 6001语言能力量表实施的STANAG 6001考试,因此测试结果只是建议性的。本文介绍了BAT测试的研制背景、测试设计和测试内容,分析了它的特点,以期为构建我军军事英语能力测试系统提供启示。
BAT is the abbreviation for Benchmark Advisory Test.This test is based on the NATO STANAG 6001 Language Proficiency Scale and intended for NATO military personnel who are non-native speakers of English.The purpose of the BAT is to provide NATO member countries with an external criterion for review and validation of their general proficiency tests based on NATO STANAG 6001,so the test results are of advisory nature only.This paper introduces the development background,design and content of the BAT test,and analyzes its characteristics,so as to provide inspiration and suggestions for the construction of our military English proficiency test system.
