Exosomes are important vectors of cellular communication.exosomes have been reported to be involved in and influence the occurrence, development, and other processes of depression. In this paper,we reviewed the research progress of exosomes in the pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment and efficacy evaluation of depression. We found that exosomes can affect depressive symptoms by regulating neuroinflammation and neurogenesis. In addition, exosomes themselves and the bioactive substances carried by them, such as miRNA and proteins, can be used as important targets for the diagnosis, treatment and efficacy evaluation of depression.
