摘要
随着科技社会的发展,计算机中介交际背景下的语码转换现象进入了语言学家们的视野。本文旨在研究我国英语专业学生在微信互动中语码转换的特征与动机,并围绕两个研究问题进行:(1)英语专业学生在微信互动中的语码转换具备什么语言特征?(2)他们在微信互动中进行语码转换的社会动机是什么?该文语料来源于笔者与英专生的微信聊天记录,并采用了定性研究为主,定量研究为辅的研究方法。研究结果表明,英专生在微信互动中进行语码转换的频率非常高,其中以汉英句内转换为主。在语言特征方面,英专生倾向于在汉语中插入日常词汇、专业术语、创造性词汇、多重结构以及情感词汇的英语语码;在社会动机方面,英专生主要利用语码转换来体现经济原则、中英文空白的填补、幽默效果、双关、身份标记和情感强调等。
Code-switching in CMC(computer-mediated communication)has intrigued linguists’interests with the booming of technology and the society.The paper aims to explore how and why mainland English majors switch their codes in WeChat interactions,which could shed some light on future studies.Our paper will follow two research questions stated below:(1)What are the features of mainland English-majors’CS in WeChat interactions?(2)What are the motivations for their CS?In this paper,quantitative and qualitative methods have been adopted to analyze the features and social motivations for Mainland English majors’CS in WeChat interactions.The results reveal that English majors in mainland frequently switch their codes in WeChat,with intra-sentential switching appears most often.Concerning the features of CS among English majors in WeChat,these groups of students prefer to insert day-to-day vocabulary,technical terms,creative expressions,multifarious language structures and emotional words.Regarding the social motivations for mainland English majors’CS in WeChat,Principle of Economy,specificity and borrowing to fill in the gap between Chinese and English,humor-creating,bilingual punning,identity marker,and emotion emphasis have been discussed.
