The adjunct honorific titles often appeared in the official posts of military prefectures in the late Tang period. While holding the official posts with government salaries, the officials of military prefectures obtained the censor status under the military governor by receiving the adjunct honorific titles.Conventional scholarship often suggests that all titles in the censorate could be granted to the military prefecture officials as adjunct honorific titles. It seems to neglect the particularity of three titles including imperial censor interns, the courtly palace paternity Censors within the court pavilion, and secretarial palace paternity Censor. These three posts could independently function by themselves without concurrently holding other posts. While attending the court order, they were listed within the Censorate, but other officials were listed by their own executive posts. However, the officials from military prefectures may be listed with the Censorate by their adjunct honorific titles. In contrast with other posts, the military governors and Surveillance commissioners from the military prefectures were closer than other honorific titles to the Censorate. This close relationship cane be manifested in the exchanges of official documents between the Censorate and the military prefectures, and the attendance rituals of court meetings.
