中国英语学习者语言模式与权力空间隐喻认知的交互作用研究 被引量:2

The Interaction of Language Mode and Power Space Metaphor Processing for Chinese EFL Learners

摘要 双语者母语和外语模式下的隐喻认知机制是否一致是双语认知研究的重要课题。本研究通过汉英权力词空间隐喻一致性判断任务,研究了中国英语学习者权力抽象概念的加工模式。结果发现语言模式与权力隐喻认知存在交互作用。母语模式下,相对于权力空间隐喻一致条件,受试对隐喻不一致条件的判断反应时显著增长。外语模式下,高、低水平组受试在两种条件下的反应时均没有显著差异,英语水平与隐喻一致性效应指标不存在显著相关关系。上述结果表明,特定母语经验相关的空间隐喻映射机制不会自动投射到外语之中,双语者抽象概念系统可能存在模态和非模态双加工机制,二者协同共存。 Space metaphor is one of the basic mechanisms for abstract concept processing. Whether bilinguals’ metaphorical processing mechanisms are consistent in native versus foreign language is an important question in bilingual cognition.Using a bilingual power judgment task,this study explores Chinese English learners’ abstract concept processing mechanism. Results show an interaction between language mode and power space metaphor processing. Specifically,compared with the power-space metaphor congruent condition,participants’ response time( RT) in the incongruent condition increases significantly in the native language mode. However,no such difference is found in either high or low English level groups in the English mode. Participants’ English proficiency correlates with the accuracy and RT in foreign language mode,but it has no correlation with the metaphorical consistency index. These results show that the space metaphorical mapping mechanism of the specific native language experience may not be projected into the foreign language automatically. The conceptual system may consist of a dual processing mechanism with both modal and amodal representations that coexist in an integrated manner.
