摘要
《吉姆爷》以其对人性、道德的批判和独特的叙述手法受到广大评论家的关注,被认为是康拉德的杰作之一。运用空间理论探讨《吉姆爷》中空间建构的方式及其意义发现,康拉德借助多线索并置叙事、多声部叙事与印象主义手法在文本中创造了独特的空间形式,又通过对地理空间、个体的心理空间和社会空间层的调用,在小说中创造了大量的空间隐喻,既丰富了小说的艺术表现形式,又提升了作品的社会内涵和主题深度。
Joseph Conrad’s full-length novel Lord Jim written in 1990,as one of his masterpieces,is focused by many critics because of its criticism to human nature and morality as well as characteristic narrative method.This thesis uses some relevant theories to discuss all kinds of the spatially constructed ways of form and content,and points out that Conrad created special spatial form by ways of multi-angle narration and impressionism and also shaped great spatial metaphor by concentrating on the level of geographical and psychological space.Conrad’s spatial construction not only enriches art form of the novel,but also enhances the depth of theme.
