Helen Raleigh,a American right-wing media professional, recently published an article named"Traditional Chinese Medicine as Soft-Power Play"with strong anti-Chinese sentiment in National Review. She makes absurd comments on traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)and its role in fighting against COVID-19 pandemic. She regards TCM as"political tentacle"(soft power),which seriously contradicts the facts and is full of logical fallacy. On the basis of the achievements of TCM in the fight against COVID-19,this article refutes the numerous fallacies of Helen Raleigh’s view of"political tentacle"and redefines the international image of TCM during the pandemic with the concept of"quasi-public goods".These contribute to the possibility that there is a comprehensive and accurate understanding overseas on the role of TCM in the global fight against COVID-19 pandemic, even on TCM and China.
