摘要
作为当代著名的美学家,柯蒂斯·卡特集中在分析美学、亚洲美学及东西方文化之间的对话等领域辛勤耕耘。他于2010—2013年间担任国际美学协会主席。在塞尔维亚贝尔格莱德召开的第21届世界美学大会上,专门设有圆桌会议讨论“柯蒂斯·卡特与当代美学”议题。在本次访谈中,卡特先生首先简要介绍了本次会议。然后,他讨论了分析美学特别是有关阿瑟·丹托与诺埃尔·卡罗尔的一些重要问题。他主张美学家不应该仅仅对艺术的语言感兴趣,更应该关注艺术作为人类经验的重要组成所扮演的角色。柯蒂斯·卡特在美学研究对象方面持有开放的态度。他指出,了解在亚洲文化中发展起来的艺术形式,并趋于全球化的视野,这一点非常重要。
As a famous contemporary aesthetician,Curtis L.Carter focuses on the field of analytic aesthetics,Asian aesthetics,and the dialogue between Eastern and Western culture.He was the president of the International Association for Aesthetics during 2010—2013.In the 21st International Congress of Aesthetics held in Belgrade,Serbia,there was a roundtable discussion on“Curtis Carter and Contemporary Aesthetics.”In this interview,Dr.Carter first speaks about this conference.Then he discusses some important questions regarding analytic aesthetics,especially Arthur C.Danto and No?l Carroll.He insists that what aestheticians should be interested in is not just the language of art,but the role that art plays as a fundamental part of human experience.Curtis Carter has an open attitude toward the subject of aesthetics,believing that it is very important to understand the forms of art that have evolved in Asian culture artistically,and to move toward a globalized perspective.

柯蒂斯·卡特(Curtis L.Carter),美国马凯特大学哲学系美学教授,国际美学协会前主席,多次在中国等世界各地的国际会议中发表演讲。近期著述主要有:《跨界:美学进入艺术》(2019)、《未定的边界:东西方哲学、艺术与伦理》(主编,2017)、《美学与日常生活》(联合主编,2015),其文章出现在许多展览和期刊中。他同时是哈格蒂艺术博物馆的创始人和首席策展人,curtis.carter@marquette.edu;韩清玉,山东大学文艺美学研究中心教授,著有《艺术自律性研究》(2019),hanqingyu0605@126.com。
