Since its establishment more than 40 years ago, the French National Front has developed from a marginalized small party to the third largest political force in France and has become France’s largest party in the European Parliament. It entered the second round of elections in the 2017 presidential election successfully, causing shock to French mainstream political forces. The ideology of the National Front has been adjusted and focused on different content in different historical periods, but its core content has always been relatively stable, such as against immigration, the combination of nationalism and populism, pragmatism. The National Front has always used the "politically incorrect" discourse to gain a higher position. The reason why it can survive and has also shown some rise in recent years, from the perspective of ideology, mainly lies in its use of the national superiority of French nationals, immigration, the problems brought about by European integration to French society, which activates nationalism and populism. It transforms ideology from old content to the combination of populism and neo-fascism for more support from voters.
