摘要
詹姆斯是渊源深远的欧美“艺术统一论”的重要践行者,力主各种艺术形式本质上归一,而国内学界鲜有对此关注者,也少有以此为理论支点的相关目标作家小说研究。本文将概述欧美“艺术统一论”的源起与流变,阐述詹姆斯在艺评、游记、传记、书信集及小说理论中对该论说的传承,梳理造就小说家“一元化艺术视觉”的家世背景与人生履历,并探究其在詹姆斯小说创作实践中的建设性功用,从而彰显该论对詹姆斯小说的艺术现代性及其整体艺术成熟度的催发之功。
As an important inheritor and practitioner of the long-standing European and American doctrines of"a single art",Henry James promotes the belief of the unity of art forms.The novelist,however,receives insufficient critical attention in China.Nor is there enough research on his novels in this light.This paper traces the origin and development of the"Unitarian Sense of Art",elaborates upon James’s extensive inheritance of the artistic tradition in his art criticism,biographies,travelogues,letters as well as fictional theory,and investigates the constructive function"the idea of the unity of all art forms"performs in his fictional practice,in an attempt to highlight the catalytic role the synaesthetic vision plays in initiating the modernity of his fiction and the maturity of his entire art view.
