摘要
文章以Chen和Starosta的跨文化交际能力模型为理论基础,对甘肃省五所不同层次的高校的1000名非英语专业大学生的跨文化交际能力及其三个维度(跨文化意识、跨文化敏感度与跨文化效力)的现状进行了调研测评。研究结果表明,中国大学生总体跨文化交际能力及其三个维度均处于中等水平,其中跨文化敏感度水平稍高。不同背景的大学生与跨文化交际能力维度之间均有显著性差异。通过访谈研究概括出了影响非英语专业大学生跨文化交际能力的几个要素:学习动机不足,缺乏文化知识,以及缺乏双重文化认同等。本研究为全面把握中国大学生跨文化交际能力现状进而深化大学英语教学改革,有效提高中国大学生跨文化交际能力提供了理论依据。
Based on the model of intercultural communication competence developed by Chen and Starosta,this paper investigates the current status of intercultural communication competence and its three dimensions(intercultural consciousness,intercultural sensitivity and intercultural effectiveness)of 1,000 non-English majors from five universities at different levels in Gansu province.The results show that the overall intercultural communication competence of Chinese college students and its three dimensions are at a medium level,among which the level of intercultural sensitivity is slightly higher.There are significant differences in the dimensions of intercultural communication competence among college students from different backgrounds.This paper summarizes several factors that influence the intercultural communication ability of non-English major undergraduates:lack of learning motivation,cultural knowledge,and dual cultural identity.This study provides a theoretical basis for comprehensively grasping the current situation of Chinese college students'intercultural communication ability,deepens the reform of college English teaching,and effectively improves the intercultural communication ability of Chinese college students.
