摘要
在中国现代学术史上,孙作云是较早对神话图像进行研究的学者之一。20世纪40年代,孙作云相继发表系列论文《饕餮考》《说鸱尾》《说羽人》,对出土器物与建筑装饰中的神话图像进行解读。进一步说,神话图像研究也是孙作云用图腾理论进行"古史重释"的重要组成部分,远古时代遗存至今的种种神话图像,在孙作云的论说中并非怪诞离奇的虚构与想象,而是特定图腾信仰的对应物。
Sun Zuoyun is one of the early scholars who studied Mythological Images in the modern academic history of China. In the 1940 s, Sun Zuoyun published a series of papers on the Mythological Images of unearthed artifacts and architectural decoration, such as The Study of Gluttony, The Talking of the Owl Tail, and The Talking of the Feather Man. Furthermore, the study of mythological images is an important part of Sun Zuoyun’s"reinterpretation of ancient history"with totem theory. The mythological images left over from ancient times to the present are not weird fiction and imagination, but the counterparts of specific totem beliefs in Sun Zuoyun’s theory.
