摘要
中国公案小说与西方侦探小说均以破解神秘案件为题材,情节相仿,因此引发貌似成理的比较研究。考察这两种在地域、时间上相隔甚远的小说的瓜葛,笔者认为以往的争论与误解皆起因于对它们的发生环境与过程、文学内外的目标以及所承载的社会学与美学观念认识不足。持此论的研究者多以己方的文化与文学观念衡量、评判作品,将彼种作品误置于此种视域内考察。南辕北辙、根深蒂固的意识形态道统使这两类小说无法交汇,二者仅有的交集只是“术”层面上情节铺陈的相似,以及“器”层面上侦破方法与技术的契合。因此,它们并不具有可比性。
As Chinese court-case fiction(gongan xiaoshuo)and Western detective fiction share the plot of unveiling mysteries and are pigeonholed as identical types of fiction,they have triggered seemingly reasonable comparative studies based on illusory impressions.Some criteria suitable only for detective fiction are often anachronistically applied in evaluating court-case fiction,in which a set of different terminology and critical approaches are required.Having examined connections of these genres,the present author attributes previous debates on ungrounded resemblances and misunderstandings respectively of their inadequate cognition of origins,histories,milieus,authors’literary and extraliterary aims,and above all,sociological and aesthetic concepts that the each genre may embody.Aside from similarities in the construction of lurid and complicated plot,and intuitive and/or logical methods applied in the process of detection that eventually lead to a convincing solution of the case in question,the two genres,embodying nuanced themes and morals,are of insignificant comparability.
