摘要
金庸作品英译数量较少,研究主要集中在翻译策略等领域,缺乏对读者评价。本文摘取Amazon及Goodreads两大网站上的金庸作品英译读者评价,建立语料库,通过AntConc数据整理,筛选高频词进行分析。得出结论:目的语读者不了解中国文化背景、不适应翻译风格、不习惯一些专有词汇的翻译,是目前金庸作品英译存在的主要问题。总体而言,读者对金庸作品英译持肯定态度,且对类似作品有需求、对中国文化感兴趣。这对中国文化"走出去"的启示是:在目前中西文化权力失衡下,应采用归化为主、异化为辅的翻译策略,同时建立多元立体的文化"走出去"格局,拓宽中国文学外译的范围与平台。
Only a few of Jin Yong’s works have been translated into English.The related research is mainly focused on translation strategies while little attention is paid to the readers’ evaluation.Selecting the readers’ comments on the English versions of Jin Yong’s works on Amazon and Goodreads,the present paper establishes a corpus and analyzes the high-frequency words with AntConc.Main problems in the translation of Jin Yong’s works are as follows: Western readers are lacking in background knowledge of Chinese culture,inadaptable to the translation style,and unaccustomed to the translation of some typical Chinese vocabulary.Generally speaking,readers have a positive attitude towards the translated versions of Jin Yong’s works,even hoping to read more of his works and showing an ardent interest in Chinese culture.It implies that under the current cultural imbalance between China and the West,the translation strategy of domestication should be adopted,with alienation as a supplement.Additionally,a multi-dimensional pattern of cultural “going out” is to be established with a view to broadening the scope and platform of Chinese literature translation.
