摘要
品特在创作前期刻意隐藏自己的政治锋芒,一方面这种意义的模糊不确定是"品特式"风格的典型特征,另一方面则源自作家内心的顾虑。自20世纪80年代起,一系列原因促使品特转型成一个"愤怒的"政治作家,具体包括:友人的遭际和影响、感情与婚姻的变化、个人的成熟自信与社会影响力的提升。品特的政治诗歌语言清晰、直白,甚至不乏粗鄙暴力,客观再现了战争的残酷、强权的压迫以及政治较量的阴谋。与他的政治剧相比,品特的政治诗主题更加多元、抒情更为饱满充沛,具有鲜明突出的个性,在他全部艺术创作中具有不可忽略的艺术张力。
Harold Pinter tried to hide his concerns about politics in his early and middle works,which resulted on the one hand from the denotative ambiguity typical of the Pinteresque style,on the other from his repressed state of mind during that period of time.A series of reasons compelled Pinter to emerge as a distinct political writer,which include his friends’vicissitudes and influences,the change in his love and marriage,and the natural confidence gained through maturity and a higher social status.Focusing on Pinter’s political poetry,this article discovers that its language is characterized with clarity,directness,rage,violence,and occasional obscenity and its themes are threefold:anti-war,criticism of tyranny’s oppression of the weak and the lefties and a sneer at politicians’dark tricks.Compared with Pinter’s political plays,his political poems are more expressive in emotion,more varied in theme,more distinctive in style,and thus contain unignorable artistic charms.
