This article explored and discussed the connotation of ‘yingfen and weifen theory' and the unique treatment of ‘harmonizing yingfen and weifen for heart deficiency'. ‘Harmony between yingfen and weifen' is the precondition of ‘heart governing the blood and vessels' and ‘heart governing spirits'. On the one hand, the theory emphasizes that sufficient yingfen and weifen can promote qi-blood circulation and nourish the heart and vessels. On the other hand, it emphasizes that yingfen and weifen must keep dynamic balance in the process of restraining excessiveness to acquire harmony, which can achieve the statement of yin and yang in equilibrium. Therefore, in order to rectify the yingfen and weifen disharmony and recover the yinyang balance in body, harmonizing yingfen and weifen should be considered as another important method for the treatment of heart diseases besides warming yang and nourishing yin. This study firstly demonstrated Guizhi Decoction, which possesses the effects of harmonizing yingfen and weifen, was effective on the prevention and treatment of cardiac autonomic nerve remodeling and coronary microvascular diseases. Carrying out in-depth research and promoting the application about it can play a significant role in TCM solving the difficulties of cardiovascular disease treatment, which is the inheritance and innovation of the theory of traditional Chinese medicine.
