摘要
在《论语》汉英平行语料库基础上,研究人员以顺应论为理论指导,对辜鸿铭《论语》译本中的本源概念英译策略进行了研究。文章依照戚雨村教授对文化的分类标准,将《论语》中的本源概念分为物质文化类、制度习俗类和精神文化类三种类别。研究发现《论语》中共有1072条本源概念,其中物质文化类(120条)、制度习俗类(516条)、精神文化类(436条),可分别对应文化表层、文化中层和文化内层。不同类别的本源概念翻译策略是不同的,译者应主动顺应目的语文化表层、中层和内层的不同语境,对不同类别的本源概念采取相应的翻译策略,促进中华传统文化的对外传播。
In the framework of Adaptation Theory, this paper attempts to analyze the translating strategies of indigenous concepts in Ku Hungming＇ s version of The Analects based on an indigenous concepts parallel corpus. According to Qi Yucun＇ s criteria of cultural classification, the indigenous concepts of The Analects can be classified into three categories, namely, material culture, system and custom culture, and spiritual culture. The study shows that the three types of indigenous concepts （1072） can be matched with culture at surface level, middle level and deep level respectively. There exist different translating strategies for different types of indigenous concepts, and translators are supposed to adapt their strategies to cultural contexts of different contexts of target language in order to promote international communication of traditional Chinese culture.
