摘要
孟广林教授主编的《西方历史文献选读》(五卷本)是目前国内仅有的系列英文历史文献教学参考书,是基于国内世界史原始文献资料的缺乏和世界史专业教学的需要,由中国人民大学世界史教师集体创作的成果。在视角上,考虑西方在世界历史进程中的引领作用和对中国发展的参照价值,将西方国家的历史作为该套丛书的编纂对象;在内容上,注重全方位、多层次凸显西方国家的历史特征和演进规律,分别精选了政治、经济、思想、文化和社会生活各方面的重要文献,并辅之以历史主义的相关解读;在体例上,依照世界历史发展的时间线索,分为古代卷、中世纪卷、近代卷、现代卷和当代卷,每卷独具特色。由于团队力量有限,该套丛书在社会生活、文化方面的资料还有待加强。
Selected Readings of Historical Documents in the West （Five-Volume Edition）, edited by Professor Guanglin Meng, are now only series of teaching reference books of English historical documents in domestic, and a new achievement collectively produced by the teachers of the world history in Renmin University of China, which based on the lack of the original documents of the world History at home and the teaching need for the world history. On the view,considering the leading role of the Western in the world history and reference value to China＇s development, it will be Western history as the compiling object of this set of books; In content, these books focus to make historical characteristic and evolution rules prominent from all-dimensional and multilevel, and respectively handpicks the important documents about politics, economy, thought, culture, social life, with historicism relevant explanation; On the style,according to the time clue of historical development of the world, they are divided into ancient, medieval, early modern, modern and contemporary volume, and each volume has unique characteristic. Because of limited ability, the materials about social life and culture should be reinforced in this set of books.
