The formation and evolution of inclusions in ER50- G steel was studied. The results showed that a large amount of alumina inclusions forming after ferroaluminum deoxidation transformed to magnesium aluminate and calcium aluminate inclusions, most of which have been removed in the following refining process. Titanium oxides and titanium nitrides formed after ferrotitanium had been charged into hot metal during RH process. Titanium oxides have been removed or reduced by aluminum, thus could be hardly found in later procedures. The amount of titanium nitride increased with the increase of nitrogen content and retained in ER50-G wire rod.
