摘要
本研究采用了横截面设计,考察了四组英语学习者(高一、大一、大三、研一)7年间二语心理词库广度与深度的关联发展。研究发现:词汇广度持续增长但在6000词频级发生分化;词汇深度发展先快后慢、趋于停滞;词汇广度与深度之间的关联并不稳定,随学习者水平提高出现支持—竞争转化。从动态系统理论看,二语心理词库广度与深度的不稳定关联体现了二语单词主要词义与次要词义竞争有限认知资源的动态过程,且受到频率效应的影响。
The present study adopts a cross-sectional design and investigates the vocabulary breadth-depth development over a seven-year span. Findings reveal that the Chinese EFL learners' vocabulary breadth continues to grow during the seven years but with the 6000 frequency level as the turning point. Their vocabulary depth stabilizes at the 3rdyear of university study. The correlation between vocabulary breadth and depth appears to be unstable,and a shift from support to competition is identified as the learners' proficiency advances. The fluctuating correlation between vocabulary breadth and depth may reflect the competition between primary and periphery meaning senses for limited cognitive resources in the mental lexicon,which is also under the influence of frequency effects.
