The Effect of Modulation Instability on Wavelength-division Multiplexing Systems

摘要 给出了调制不稳定性 (MI)的小信号分析方法 ,推导的结果适用任何频率和相位调制的情况。此方法也可用来分析光纤中的高阶色散现象。运用小信号分析的结果 ,可以详细讨论 MI对波分复用(WDM)系统的影响。结果表明 ,MI使信号的强度下降 ,而且对噪声有放大作用 ,它将降低了 WDM系统的信噪比 (SN R) ;MI对 WDM系统中各信道的影响是不同的 ,它对短波段的作用强于长波段 ,也会使各信道的 SN R产生偏差 ,将使长波段较短波段有大的 SN R,ΔSN A more ordinary method which using small signal analysis for modulation instability(MI) is given.For any frequency-and intensity modulation (or noise),the result of frequency and intensity modulation will be derived.So in the frequency domain,the analysis resolve of NLSE can be given.The conversion matrix which describing the conversion between the intensity and phase modulation (or noise) will be valid for any frequency or intensity modulation,and the method can be used to analyse the dispersion effect (including the β 3) in fiber.Basing on the result of small signal analysis,the effect of MI on wavelength-division multiplexing(WDM) system can be discussed in detail:the effect of MI on short waves is stronger than that of on long wave;it will cause every channel's SNR have a deviation and the deviation will be accumulated with the communication fiber length.
