There are various ways and gates to God, Buddha, ghosts and immortals in the folk believes in China. These ways and gates, which have passed on years after years and have been handed down from generation to generation, have both national traits and historical traditions. They have brought about their own unique influences on the populace life, and become organic components in the folk culture and social custom in China. However, the belief and the custom of Hakka people is different from that of the other races, and occupies an incontrovertible position in so many believes and customs of China. In this paper, the author makes an attempt to arrange and explain the belief of Hakka in order to discuss the direct origin of the Hakka culture.
