On Quantitative Monitoring of Teaching Quality

摘要 我国每年都举行各类大规模英语考试,但测试结果以及通过测试获得的数据和信息远远未能充分发挥其应有的作用。本文旨在利用现代英语测试手段,以考试所反馈的数据为基础,对全校甚至全省及全国的英语质量进行科学量化的分析、比较、跟踪与监控,使每个学生的英语听、说、读、写、译各方面的能力、每位英语教师每一学期的教学效果以及试卷的质量以量化的数据形式呈现,最大程度地挖掘数据所反映的信息,使英语教学的监控落到实处,以有利于教师的教学和发展、学生的学习和发展及试卷质量的掌控。 The results of the national-wide public English tests and some other English tests held by the colleges themselves are the valuable data for the assessment of the teacher' s teaching level. In the light of the selected and processed data and some other auxiliary approaches, the writer suggests that a modernized quantitative monitoring system be established to im- prove English teaching quality. Under this system, teachers' and students' English level and the quality of testpapers can be evaluated in an objective way. Consequently, the subsequent measures such as teachers' teaching and development as well as students' learning and development.
