Automatic processing of second language syntax: Evidence from the brain potentials

摘要 相对于从儿童时期获得的母语来说,一般认为二语的句法是非自动加工的。本研究利用ERP技术,在无注意条件下对二语句法中的主谓一致违反情况进行研究,发现大脑在加工二语时,产生了反映句法自动加工的脑电成分MMN,这表明即使二语在关键期之后获得,大脑仍然能够对二语的句法进行自动加工。文章从MMN产生的神经生理机制、二语加工与二语句法加工之间的区别两个方面对二语句法的自动加工进行了分析。 Compared to native languages acquired by children, second language syntax processing is said to be non-automatic. In this paper, we examine subject-verb agreement violations under non-attention condition using event-related brain potentials (ERPs). We find the mismatch negativity (MMN) which represents the automatic processing of second language syntax when the second language is being processed. Studies show that brain could still process second language syntax automatically, even after the critical period. This paper analyzes automatic processing of the second language from the following two aspects: neurobiological mechanisms of MMN, and differences between second language processing and second language syntax processing.
