基于光纤环形镜的Er^(3+)/Yb^(3+)共掺双包层光纤放大器的增益平坦化 被引量:3

Gain-flattening of an Er^(3+)/Yb^(3+) co-doped double-cladding fiber amplifier using a fiber loop mirror

摘要 基于光纤环形镜(FLM)的结构及其滤波特性的理论分析,采用FLM实现铒镱(Er3+/Yb3+)共掺双包层光纤放大器(EYDFA)的增益平坦化。进行MATLAB仿真,并实验研究了含有1段保偏光纤(PMF)和含有2段PMF的FLM的滤波特性,分析了其滤波特性随PMF长度及偏振控制器(PC)状态的变化情况、FLM的PMF段数与长度的选取问题;使用含有2段PMF的FLM进行了增益平坦实验,实现了自发辐射(ASE)谱两峰的平坦,在其所处的主要波长范围1 535~1 547nm内,增益不平坦度由±7.5dB减小到±0.75dB。将宽谱光源的输出光信号作为信号光输入放大系统,在波长1 535~1 547nm范围内,放大器的增益不平坦度由±4.5dB降为±1.2dB。 Based on the structure of fiber loop mirror (FLM) and the theoretical analysis of its filter characteristics,the FLM is used to flat the gain of Er3+/Yb3+ co-doped double-cladding fiber amplifier (EYDFA). The filter characteristics of FLM with one and two sections of polarization maintaining fiber (PMF) are analyzed in the experiment under different lengths of PMF and different states of polarization controller. On that basis,we also analyze how to set the length and select the numbers of PMF for the FLM properly. In the experiment,we use the FLM with two sections of PMF to flat the gain of the amplifier, which makes the two peaks of the ASE spectrum flat relatively. With this method, the gain fluctuation of the ASE spectrum is reduced to ±0. 75 dB from ±7.5 dB in the main unflat wavelength range of 1 535-1 547 nm. And the output signal of broadband source is input into the amplification system as the signal light,and the gain fluctuation of the amplifier is reduced to ±1.2 dB from ±4. 5 dB in the same wavelength range of 1535-1 547 nm.
