摘要
本实验研究探讨母语差异对二语视、听工作记忆广度及其差异的影响。研究结果表明:(1)中、日、德、西英语学习者之间的母语视觉及听觉广度之间基本无差异;但中国学习者的二语视觉广度显著低于德、西学习者,而二语听觉方面,中、日学习者的广度显著低于德、西学习者。(2)所有国别的学习者各语言通道的广度按照由高到低依次为母语听觉、母语视觉、二语视觉和二语听觉。(3)中、日学习者的二语视、听广度差异显著高于德、西学习者,而德国学习者显著低于西班牙学习者,即母语差异对视、听广度差异有显著影响;同时,认知风格和视听训练比例与这一差异之间存在显著的弱相关。综上所述,母语与二语的语言距离对二语视、听工作记忆广度本身以及二语视、听工作记忆广度差异均有显著影响。
This experimental study investigated the effect of the native language on learner's L2 visual and auditory working memory spans and the difference between them.Results showed:(1) The L1 visual/auditory spans across Chinese,Japanese,German,and Spanish learners of English were approximately identical.While the visual span score of the Chinese learners was significantly lower than those of the German and Spanish learners,those of the auditory spans of the Chinese and Japanese learners were significantly lower than those of the German and Spanish learners.(2) In learners of all nationalities,the spans ranking from highest to lowest were L1 auditory,L1 visual,L2 visual,and L1 auditory.(3) The difference between L2 visual and auditory spans in Chinese and Japanese learners was significantly more obvious than that in German and Spanish learners,and the case of the German learners was significantly less obvious than that of the Spanish learners.That is,the native language had an effect on the difference between learner's L2 visual and auditory spans.Besides,cognitive style and practice modality both had significant but weak correlations with such difference.In sum,the distance between L1 and L2 has an effect on both the learner's L2 visual and auditory working memory spans and the difference between them.
