In recent years theories in the perspective of cognitive processes have played a more and more important role in exploring the mind mechanism of children's understanding false belief. The authors introduced:(1) The reality masking hypothesis and its mechanism of cognitive inhibition;(2) The adaptive modeling hypothesis that emphasized children' s belief reasoning underwent a process of counterfactual reasoning;(3) The belief-desire reasoning hypothesis that not only dissociated belief inhibition and desire inhibition but also emphasized their roles. The above-mentioned theories constructed different theoretical models from various perspectives of cognitive process, which made the processes of children's understanding false belief explicit and had provided many beneficial enlightenments to current research on TOM.
