In Japan's 22^(nd) Upper House Election, the Democratic Party of Japan(DPJ) lost the majority of seats in less than one year. Thus formed the'twisted Diet',in which the ruling coalition has an overwhelming majority in the powerful House of Representatives while the opposition-controlled House of Councillors has the power to veto bills passed by the lower chamber. This has not only increased unpredictable variables and uncertainties to Japan's political scenario and China-Japan relations, but also brought challenges and opportunities to Japan's bipartisan politics.
