A Multimodal Discourse Analysis of Meaning Co-construction——A Case Study of a Piece of Traditional Chinese Painting

摘要本文以系统功能语法学基础上发展起来的多模态分析框架为理论基础,分别从视觉符号和言语符号两方面分析了一幅中国古代山水写意画——《山径春行图》,旨在揭示言语符号与视觉符号如何共同作为社会符号来完成表意功能,并如何在多模态语篇中发挥意义共建的作用。 Based on the multimodal discourse analysis theory which is developed from Halliday＇s Systemic-Functional Grammar,this article analyzes a traditional Chinese painting from the following two aspects：verbal semiotic and visual semiotic. This study aims to explain how language and images contribute to the discourse meaning co-construction.
