摘要
标题式语言是一种功能文体,其句法、语法、词汇都有独特特点。通过对近期《纽约时报》的仔细阅读,归纳分析了新闻标题的句法,语法,词汇的特点。
Block language, a functional style of the English language, has its peculiar syntactic, grammatical and lexical features. However, English learners＇ ignorance of the characteristics of block language poses an obstacle to their understanding the headline and promptly grasping the main idea of the news. The author, therefore,after reading with great care The New York Times and its headlines, make tentative attempts to summarize the peculiarities of newspaper headlines on syntactic, grammatical and lexical levels respectively, with an expectation to facilitate English learners＇ newspaper reading.
