The myth of Chaos is the collective imagination and explanation of the primitive people about the origin of the universe and the formation of all things on earth. As far as their exploration into and recognition of such issues as the "arehe" are concerned, there lies an obscure or obvious connection between the myth of Chaos and the sino-greek philosophy. In China, the ide.. as in the myth of Chaos in the ancient times exerted some obscure influence on the formation of Laozi' s "Dao", and Laozi' s depietious of "Dao" shed some light in reverse on the retellings of the myth of Chaos in the later literature; while in Greece, the myth of Chaos whose existence is prior to philosophy directly enlightened the advancement of the key philosophieal notion "primordium", but the Greek philosophy developed its way onward instead of returning to the matrix of myth which functioned as its cultural background. The present paper studies the philosophical connotations of the myths of Chaos in sino-greek creation myths, which are revealed in their cultural resources for the formation of the earlier sino-greek philosophical notions.
