Eu 3+ ion doped cadmium aluminium silicate(Abbr. CAS∶Eu) glass was prepared. It is found that the CAS∶Eu glass shows strong Eu 3+ characteristic red emission under 365nm or blue UV radiation and charge transfer band (CTB) of Eu 3+ ions in this galss is not found. The CAS∶Eu glass shows the light waveguide phenomenon.
