摘要
CSIRO has had a long-term research effort in superconductivity, in particular, since the discovery of HTS which promised big prospects. Significant progress has been made in research and development of HTS electronic devices and systems for practical applications such as mineral and exploration as well as some niche applications in emerging science and technology areas. This article presents an overview of the CSIRO research activities in HTS supercon- ducting electronics since 1987, outlining the HTS junction and device technology as well as various application systems developed by the group.

Jia Du received her B.S. degree from Xidian University in 1982, M.S. degree from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in 1984, and Ph.D. from the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia, in 1993. She joined the CSIRO Division of Materials Science and Engineering (CMSE) (previously Division of Applied Physics) in 1995 and has been working on superconducting electronics since 1997. She is currently a Principal Research Scientist and the project leader of superconducting high-frequency devices and applications. Her research interests include HTS and LTS Josephson junctions, SQUIDs, other novel devices and related materials issues.e-mail: Jia.Du@csiro.an.Cathy E Foley received her B.S., Dip.Ed. and Ph.D. degrees from Macquarie University, Australia. She is currently a Senior Principal Research Scientist with CSIRO CMSE and the leader of research program for devices, systems, and engineering. She has undertaken research in high temperature superconductors, magnetics, semiconductors, and involved with developing systems for mineral exploration. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and the Australian Institute of Physics. Dr. Foley also has interests in physics, science education, women in science and science in the media.Keith L. Leslie is currently the leader of the CMSE's Superconductivity and Magnetics Research Group. He is also the leader of the LANDTEM project; a project concerned with the application of SQUIDs for geophysics. In 2007, the LANDTEM team won a CSIRO Award for "Research Achievement" due to the successful transfer of CSIRO's LANDTEM technology to the international mineral industry and the significant impact of the SQUID system on the discovery of new mineral resources. Details of the LANDTEM system may be found at the web-site: http://www.tip.csiro.au/IMP/SmartMeasure/LANDTEM.htm.
