摘要
一种文学技巧或手法只有在被用来成功地叙述故事时才有价值。《天真时代》的成功应该归因于伊迪丝.华顿巧妙地运用了独特的"重复"叙述策略来阐述她的主题。这种手法体现了作家的精湛小说艺术,同时为这部小说取得了巨大的文学成就。文章尝试用米勒的重复理论的核心概念"异质性假说"来解读这部普利策获奖作品。
Abstract： A type of literary technique or art is valuable only when being employed in narration. The success of The Age of Innocence lies greatly in Edith Wharton＇s flexible adoption of ＂repetition＂ strategy, which suggests the writer＇s perfect art of fiction and makes the enormous literary achievement possible. This article aims at approaching the Pulitzer winner by means of the key de.definition of ＂the hypothesis of heterogeneity＂ in Miller＇s repetition theory.
