A Study on Matrix Structure in American Academic Libraries——Taking Seton Hall University Library as an Example

摘要以美国西东大学图书馆为案例,介绍矩阵结构在美国大学图书馆的应用。通过分析矩阵结构的产生背景和主要优点,指出矩阵结构的运用符合数字化环境对图书馆业务组织所提出的新要求。从图书馆规模、专业馆员素质、人员结构和业务组织等角度,探讨矩阵结构在美国大学图书馆的运行基础,并对它在我国图书馆的应用提出建议。 By taking Seton Hall University library as an example, this paper introduces the application of matrix structure in American academic libraries. After analyzing its background and main merits, the paper points out that the application of matrix structure can meet the requirements of digital environment to library service. Furthermore, it discusses the use of matrix structure in American academic libraries from the aspects of library size, librarians＇ quality, personnel structure and service organization, etc. Some advice on the application of matrix structure in Chinese Libraries is proposed as well.
